Sasha Schroeder is the Center for International Media Assistance's Program and Communications Assistant at the National Endowment for Democracy. In this role, she is responsible for helping to produce CIMA's blog, managing CIMA’s communications and assisting in the organization of events relating to international media development and press freedom. Prior to joining CIMA, she worked for the International Press Institute, where she tracked and reported on threats to global press freedom and helped produce IPI’s annual report on reviving local news media around the world. She also worked for the Middle East Institute, where she produced a podcast featuring analysis on foreign policy in the Middle East and North Africa. Additionally, her journalism has been published in the Raleigh News & Observer, the Charlotte Observer, INDY Week, the Greensboro News & Record, The Daily Tar Heel, EducationNC and WALTER Magazine. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a B.A. in Journalism and Global Studies and a minor in Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies.
